Ilia Laporev
   
 


Ilia Laporev was born in Vilnius (Lithuania) in a musical family.

When he was seven years old, he started following cello lessons in the Special School for Music in Minsk (Belarus) with Prof. V. Perlin.

On his thirteenth anniversary he made his first appearances on the Belarus state television.

After his successful appearance on the National Television he won two first prizes in national music competitions and performed regularly as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Belarus.

From 1984 till 1989, Ilia Laporev studied at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moskow with prof. N. Shachovskaya (student of M. Rostropovich and First Laureate of the Second International Tchaikovsky Music contest).

After his studies, he became the first cello of the Symphonic Orchestra of the "Flemish Opera". In 1991, he made his debut with the Symphonic Orchestra as soloist performing Russian Music.

Ilia Laporev performed regularly as a soloist with different orchestras in Belgium and Europe under famous conductors such as: Silvio Varviso, Stefan Soltezs, Bernard Klee, Roy Goodman, Massimo Zanetti, Robert Groslot to name a few.

He has made a chamber music performance his speciality. As a member of different chamber music ensembles, he performed in many European, Asian and South-American countries as well as in South-Africa.

From 1995, he started teaching cello at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.

In 2001 he performed in a Cello -Piano duo with Boyan Vodenitcharov.

From 2005 Ilia Laporiev is a member of the Trio Sonnetto with the pianist Vitaly Samoshko and the violinist Leonid Kerbel. This trio is guided and inspired by a world famous pianist Paul Badura-Skoda.
